Old Mission San Juan Bautista Church

Old Mission San Juan Bautista Church was established in the early 1800s in San Juan Bautista. It is currently presided over by Rev. Alberto Cabrera. They offer historical information, school field trips, regular mass, and a number of sacraments including faith formation, baptisms, and weddings. The Mission San Juan Bautista Preservation Fund was formed to strengthen, preserve, and conserve the historical property and structural integrity of the Mission and its church as a California Historic Landmark.

About the Green Churches Initiative

Inspired by Pope Francis’ message of environmental stewardship in his encyclical Laudato Si, Greenpower began our Green Churches Initiative in 2016 in collaboration with the Roman Catholic Diocese of Monterey of California and Santa Cruz-based energy efficiency and solar experts Mynt Systems. Our goal is to transform Diocese churches and schools into beacons of sustainable energy production by installing renewable energy systems like solar as well as energy efficiency measures like LED lighting retrofits. Not only will this help protect the environment, it will help save the Diocese millions of dollars that can be used for education and charitable ministries.
